The Directorate of Accounts and treasuries is headed by the Director of Accounts and Treasuries at Puducherry. He is assisted by eight Deputy Directors, three Junior Accounts Officers in Puducherry, one Deputy Director each at Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam holding the charges at the Branch Offices in the outlying regions. Three Treasuries and three Sub- Treasuries are also functioning under it. The main functions of the Treasuries and Sub- Treasuries are payment of pensions, compilation of Government Payment and Receipt Account, issue of Government Stamps and Stamp Papers.

Its major functions are effecting payments for Government Departments, Local Bodies and issuing PPO’s, Pension Payments and maintenance of Puducherry Government Accounts both for Debits and Credits.

Payments of Government, Municipalities and Commune Panchayats are effected to the Government servants, employees of Local Bodies, Publics, Suppliers, Contractors etc., by this Directorate by way of issuing cheques.

All kinds of bills viz., Pay Bills, Arrear Bills, TA Bills, MR Bills, Contingent Bills and Grants-in-aid Bills, etc., are honoured for payments and passed on the strength of Government sanctions/orders and with reference to the relevant rules and regulations laid down for these purposes. Pension payments are also made promptly to the Government Pensioners and Ex- French Pensioners of the Union Territory of Puducherry, Central Government Pensioners, Freedom Fighters (State and Central), Defence Services and other State Governments by way of cash through the Treasuries and Sub-Treasuries of the Union Territory of Puducherry. Treasuries and Sub-Treasuries are situated in the following addresses headed by a Treasury Officer/Sub Treasury Officer under the control of this Directorate :-

The complaints and grievances if any received are specially attended to by the Dy. Directors/JAOs concerned and suitable replies thereto given to the complainants promptly with the approval of the DAT.

N.B : The Government Payments, Payments of Local Bodies: Compilation of Accounts (Receipts and Payments) Outward and Inward Accounts and Settlement of Pension cases are being done within the time limits provided under the rules governing the payments, compilation of accounts etc.,

For easy access to the public, a Display Board has been set up in the Ground Floor of this Directorate indicating the designations of the Officers along with the Departments dealt by them with their Room Nos. and extension telephone Nos. for the convenience of the public. The public can also meet concerned officials to solve their grievances.
